Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620 – You don’t usually get great battery life on laptops with large screens – more screen real estate means more battery drain – but the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620) says “hit it.”
For $1,249, you’re buying a premium chassis (go for the Dark Green color), packed with a bright 16-inch touchscreen display, strong performance, and long-lasting battery life. It’s not perfect—I disliked the keyboard and touchpad experience, and the audio isn’t up to par. But it’s not too expensive either.
If you want a big laptop with a big battery, the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620) is easily one of the best laptops you can buy.

Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620) Design
Silver and logo. It couldn’t look more boring, but it feels premium thanks to its rugged metal chassis. If you don’t want to be stuck with the monotone silver paint, the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620) also comes in a beautiful Dark Green.
However, I appreciate the open, empty interior. Why? Because it means more room to work—my palms need to explore. I like how the touchpad is carefully carved into the deck, leaving the keyboard side exposed. The keyboard itself is neatly tucked between two thick speaker vents. In the upper right corner of the keyboard is a fingerprint reader that doubles as a power button.
Since this is a 2-in-1 laptop, the screen is slightly further back, but the bezels surrounding it are as thin as I expected. The hinges are thick and sturdy, so I was a little skeptical about whether the laptop would flip over. But it does, and it looks quite comfortable in tent mode. The lid is heavy enough to weigh down the bottom when in tablet mode, leaving little to no room for distractions when drawing and swiping.
Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620) Display
The Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620) can’t compete with premium laptops that cost as much as a used car, but it tries its best to be the brightest with a 16-inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display with a 16:10 aspect ratio.
Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620) Review. I watched the Ocean Boy trailer, and the crystal-clear blue ocean appeared on screen as dolphins bobbed about on their way to commit crimes. When the forgettable Hemsworth talks to his son, the panel is bright enough to show off the colorful bedsheets in the dimly lit room.
According to our colorimeter, the Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 (7620) covers 69.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which is below the premium laptop average of 86.4%.
At 307 nits of brightness, the Inspiron 16 falls short of the 429-nit average.
We don’t have official test results from its competitors, but let’s talk about what the Inspiron 16 does for its price. At $1,249, the Inspiron gives you a large panel that’s brighter than more expensive gaming laptops and as colorful as the dimmest lights in the store. It won’t compete with the $4,000 MacBook Pro, but it doesn’t need to.
